Welcome to Otaniemi – smooth start for the autumn

The new academic year is here! Hooray! The coming autumn will bring many changes to Otaniemi Campus. One of the greatest change is, of course, the move of business bachelor students to Otaniemi. What a unique experience to be a freshman in this particular autumn!

Facilities in the autumn of 2015

Dipoli, also known as a conference centre, was closed in the spring due to a renovation. As a result, the restaurants in Dipoli are also unavailable until further notice. The renovation of Otakaari 1, the so-called Kanditalo, is nearing completion. New teaching facilities for business students will open in U Wing. During the renovation of Otaniemi Campus Library, students can use the services of the learning centre Beta in X Wing of Kanditalo.

The service point and festive facilities of KY association can be found on Konemiehentie. Further information on KY facilities and the campus removal from the perspective of business students can be found at http://kyweb.fi/otaniemi/etusivu/.

Restaurants

The move of business bachelor students brings more hungry mouths to Otaniemi at lunch time. The restaurants have tried to increase the number of customer seats but some new restaurants will also open on the campus.

New large restaurants include Valimo (Metallimiehenkuja 2) and Tietotie 6. Restaurant VM5 at Vuorimiehentie 5 and Electra at Otakaari 7 will also provide student-priced lunch starting in the autumn. SubwayÂź opened in late spring and offers student-priced lunch in Tekniikan talo (Konemiehentie 2) alongside the student and personnel restaurant.

A new cafe Elissa will open in U Wing at Otakaari 1 at the beginning of the autumn term. The café in connection with the main lobby at Otakaari 1 will continue its operations under the new name Aino (former Elissa) and Alvari will continue as a student restaurant.

Opening hours and lunch hours in new restaurants will be published closer to their opening.
