3. Apply for the union meeting delegation of SYL

SYL, the National Union of University Students in Finland, is the association of the Finnish student unions, which represents the Finnish university students in national decision making. The annually appointed board implements the action plan and the policy paper which guide the advocacy work of SYL. The policy paper and the action plan will be approved in the union meeting where the board is also elected. The union meeting of the year 2012 will be held in Tampere on 23-24 November.  SYL’s union meeting is an excellent vantage point to the Finnish student movement as well as university students’ national interest representation and its impact on students’ everyday life.

In the union meeting, AYY is represented by a delegation which consists of 16 union meeting representatives who use the student union’s voting right in the union meeting, and their sixteen deputies. The board will appoint the delegation to SYL’s union meeting after consulting the Representative Council groups. An open electronic application will be organised for the delegation.

The application period is Friday 31 Aug 12noon–Friday, 16 Sept 2012, 11.59pm.

5. Cleaning service discontinued in shared apartments from 1 Oct onwards

The rent in shared apartments in Teekkari Village and LeppÀvaara has included regular cleaning service of common facilities in shared apartments by the maintenance company. As of 1 Oct, a new property maintenance agreement will come into force, which no longer includes the cleaning of common facilities in shared apartments. After this, residents must ensure the cleanliness of their apartment by themselves. Stairways and common premises in the building will be cleaned as usual.

Cleaning of common premises in shared apartments is discontinued due to high costs and equal treatment of AYY’s tenants. In the properties in Helsinki, the cleaning of common facilities in shared apartments has never been included in the rent.

After 1 Oct, the residents must ensure the cleanliness of common facilities and keep their apartment in a generally acceptable condition. The storing of waste in common facilities or balconies, for example, is strictly prohibited and may result in warnings and even the termination of a rental agreement. If a shared apartment is found to be in an unsuitable condition, a cleaning request is submitted. After the request, the apartment can be cleaned by AYY and cleaning costs will be charged from all residents of the shared apartment. If problems arise, residents may contact the castle warden in their building or AYY’s housing office.

Housing Specialist Jaakko Koivula (050 520 9444, firstname.lastname@ayy.fi) answers any questions and provides additional information.

We have been looking for a better invoicing system since the spring, and our aim is to switch to a new system as soon as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the invoicing system problems and appreciate your patience while the problems are being solved. If you have comments or questions about an invoice or a reminder, please contact us online at yths.fi/en/fee_feedback.

A competition entry must not identify participants, but the proposal should be named with a working title. The proposal must be accompanied with a closed envelope with a working title, which incudes the contact information of scriptwriter candidates.

The winner(s) will be selected as the scriptwriter of Teekkari Spex 2013 based on the topic and synopsis, and the winning script will be handed over for the use of Teekkari Spex.

Transcript of the scenes gives an indication of the scriptwriter’s ability to transform the synopsis to material suitable for the stage.
