1. SIGN UP FOR AYY’S ASSOCIATION TRAINING

AYY’s association training arranged on 8 December is approaching fast. Now it is time to sign up for the training which is much more comprehensive and diverse than the trainings in the previous years. Whether you are interested in the association rules, archiving, communications, financial management or meeting technique, you will certainly find interesting topics in the training.

It is particularly important that the old association members recommend the association training for the new members elected in the autumn meetings. The association training offers them a natural start to the association activities!

Please sign up at https://lomake.ayy.fi/yhdistykset/yhdistyskoulutus-8-12-2011/. Unfortunately, the form is only available in Finnish, but those who use other languages can sign up by email at jarjestoasiat@ayy.fi. If several people whose language is other than Finnish sign up, we will also arrange training in English.

2. STREAMLINED APPLICATION PROCESS OF TTE-FUND IS UNDERWAY

Do you have an idea but no funding? A continuous, streamlined application process of TTE-Fund is now underway!

TTE-Fund (fund for promoting teekkari activities) allocates grants to all AYY members and communities operating within the Student Union. TTE-Fund supports activities which reach for the stars, make others excited and which can be seen and heard.

You can apply for the maximum of 300 euro grant with a brief project description through the streamlined application process of TTE-Fund, which was introduced in November. The streamlined application process is intended for small projects implemented with a tight schedule. The applicant can alternatively receive either the amount one applied for or no funding at all, so you should carefully consider the amount you will apply for! The grant is paid afterwards against a brief final report and the financial statement of the project.

Applications for the streamlined application process can be send from 1 Nov 2011 onwards until the end of May. If the lighter streamlined process is popular, it will be continued next autumn.

More information on the streamlined application process is available at TTE-Fund website at http://tter.ayy.fi/.

3. AATE COMMUNITY EFFORT PROJECT AVAILABLE FOR ASSOCIATIONS

AYY’s culture arena and student media Aate is looking for enthusiastic and committed group with renovation skills to do extensive basic renovation on their premises. Work includes, among other things, painting, restoration of surfaces and miscellaneous installation work. According to preliminary plans, approximately one month will be used for the project. The project will start as soon as possible. The compensation for the work will be based on the bid made by the association and agreed after an introduction visit and a completed and precise work list.

Contact information: Vesa Rajala, Aate Executive Producer, +358 50 520 9425 / vesa.rajala@ayy.fi. More information on Aate at http://aatemedia.fi.

 4. PUBLISHING EVENT OF TEEKKARIN TYÖKIRJA JOB-HUNTING GUIDE ON 28 NOV

Help for job hunting is available again! Teekkarin työkirja 2012 job-hunting guide will be published in Otaniemi on 28 Nov, 10am-1pm. 2. Advance booking of one-time rental premises is approaching!
  3. AYY’s well-being week moves students on 31 Oct–4 Nov
  4. OtaKoppi gather’s a women’s baseball group – join the team!

1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATIONS INSPECTORS IN ASSOCIATIONS

Since the beginning of 2011, the accountants of the associations are called operations inspectors regardless of what is mentioned in the association rules. Accounting is only done in very rare associations now since it cannot be done by any other than those who have completed an accountant’s professional degree.

This change may sound significant but actually nothing else than the inspector’s title changes in small associations. All papers of the previous year, such as the minutes, accounts and the financial statement must be submitted to the inspector in good time. The inspector(s) will provide a report which is covered in the association meeting in the spring. Based on the report, the association meeting confirms the financial statement and grants or denies a discharge.

You can read more about this change at ayy.fi /toiminnantarkastus (unfortunately only in Finnish at the moment, but coming soon in English)

2. ADVANCE BOOKING OF ONE-TIME RENTAL FACILITIES IS APPROACHING

In November-December, the associations can book AYY’s one-time rental facilities and the van in advance for the next spring and the summer. AYY provides one-time rental sauna and meeting facilities which the associations can book in advance. More information on the facilities is available at /en/students/space-rental/.

The deadline for bookings is 11 Dec and the final booking event will be organised on 14 Dec. More information will be provided closer to the event.

3. AYY’S WELL-BEING WEEK MOVES STUDENTS ON 31 OCT– 4 NOV

The well-being week on 31 Oct-4 Nov brings a healthy change to the students’ everyday life. AYY’s Sports Section Aalto-Liike together with the sports and well-being committee of KY moves students with various try-out sports. Some of the sport expenses have been paid on your behalf. It has never been this easy to try out fun sports. Get your booty shaking!

4. OTAKOPPI GATHERS A WOMEN’S BASEBALL GROUP – JOIN THE TEAM!

OtaKoppi is a baseball association operating within Aalto University Student Union, which now gathers a women’s team to play in a regional league next summer. We need more players to complete the team. You don’t necessarily need previous experience on playing in a team/league, but sportiveness and enthusiasm will get you far. However, it is recommended that you are familiar with baseball in some way. This is also an excellent opportunity to get back to baseball after your junior years or if you need a more relaxed team after more serious ones.

If you got even a little bit interested, please contact elina.kekki(at)iki.fi. Come and play in a fun team. Further information is also available at OtaKoppi website at www.otakoppi.fi (in Finnish)
