Otaniemi will have major changes and development ahead. As a major operator in the area, the Student Union has the opportunity to influence the final content of Otaniemi land use, as well as the development of entire Otaniemi. The Student Union’s most important objectives are to increase student housing, develop services in Otaniemi and secure good public transport connections. The working group’s task is to produce concrete proposals in order to implement these objectives in urban planning. The working group members are expected to have basic understanding of land use planning. The knowledge of community planning, land use planning and/or traffic engineering, studies and experience in the field are considered an advantage. We aim at having a diverse working group, where different points of view are represented.

The working group members are expected to be interested in Otaniemi planning process and commit themselves to the working group. The working group members are expected to participate in meetings (once a month). In addition, the working group members are expected to work slightly more (approx. 2-3 workshops) in May, as there are only 30 weekdays to make comments and submit amendment proposals on the draft plan of Otaniemi Center area from the publication of the plan. The term will last until the end of the year 2014, after which the future of the working group will be decided separately. The working language is Finnish.
